Urla is home to some of the Aegean’s cleanest and calmest beaches. Just a short distance from our hotel, discover coves that offer both sandy and pebbly shores for every kind of beach lover.
Özbek Akkum Cove in Urla, İzmir, is a quiet nature beach near the town center and Özbek neighborhood, away from crowds and without commercial facilities. Entry is free, but there are no sunbeds, showers, or similar services. The sea floor is sandy, and the water is warmer than many other Aegean coves.
You can reach Özbek Village by ESHOT bus line 734 from Urla center, or by private car.
There are no facilities, so bring your own camping chair and umbrella.

Located south of Urla near Demircili Village, Bodrum Cove is known for its clear, warm sea surrounded by lush greenery. About 20 kilometers from the district center, this calm cove has both a public beach area and a private operator where you can rent sunbeds and umbrellas.
Take ESHOT line 733 (Yağcılar – Urla) from Urla center and get off at Demircili Meydan.
Melengeç Beach / Bodrum Cove Operation is the local beach operator right on the cove. From your sunbed or table by the sea you can order gözleme, meatballs, fries, toast, cold drinks, beer, and other simple beach snacks.

Altınköy Beach, in Yağcılar Mahallesi of Urla, is a popular cove known for its golden fine sand and cool, aquarium-clear water. The beach has both a fully free public area where you can lay your towel and private beach clubs.
Use ESHOT bus lines from Urla center or through the area (734, 736, etc.). By car, head from Urla toward Kuşçular and follow the Altınköy Çiftlik Evleri site signs to the beach.
Behind the beach are the Urla Municipality (URİT) facility and private operators such as Marika Beach Club. Entry is free. You can bring your own umbrella and chair and spend the day on the free public beach section.

Demircili Beach (Demircili Cove) is about 24 kilometers from Urla center. Its peninsula shape creates two different coves at once on a windy, largely unspoiled shoreline: waves on one side, calm water on the other.
By car, follow the winding Demircili Village road from Urla center through pine forest; roadside parking is available near the beach entrance. There is no public bus that goes all the way to the beachfront. From Urla center take ESHOT line 733 (Yağcılar – Urla), then walk about 2–3 kilometers to the shore.
Entry to the cove is completely free. You may bring your own umbrella, sunbed, and table for the public beach area. Melengeç Plajı and Deniz Yıldızı are popular shore operators offering umbrella and sunbed rental and restaurant service. Sunbed fees vary by weekday and weekend demand.
Its windy character makes it excellent for windsurfing. Diving lessons are also offered in the area between April and November. Camping and caravans: Demircili is one of İzmir’s most popular tent and caravan spots. Infrastructure such as electricity and water is limited, but it is heavily preferred by campers seeking nature.
Kum Denizi Beach in Urla’s Atatürk neighborhood is a very popular Blue Flag public beach about 1 kilometer long. With broad social facilities, a water play park, children’s play areas, green spaces, and walking paths, it is considered Urla’s most modern and organized beach.
Getting there from Urla center is easy and short — about 4 kilometers, or 5–7 minutes by car depending on traffic. Public transport: almost all buses from Urla Center stop (or Urla bus terminal) toward Çeşmealtı pass in front of the beach. Useful lines: ESHOT 732 (Urla – Çeşmealtı) or 984 (Urla – Fahrettin Altay). You can also take Urla – Çeşmealtı minibuses from Urla center and ask the driver to stop at Kum Denizi Beach; they run along the street directly in front of the beach.

Önen Cove, about 17 kilometers south of Urla center, is a wild, largely untouched camping and day-visit spot known for pristine nature and clear sea. Also listed in Visit İzmir guides, it sits between Kuşçular and Demircili. It is an ideal hidden getaway for adventurers and campers seeking quiet away from city noise.
The road is rocky and rough; low cars may struggle. Prefer a high-clearance or off-road vehicle (4x4).
There is no electricity, shower, toilet, sunbed, or any commercial facility on site.
Open flat areas suit both tent camping and caravan stays. Natural swimming and camping.
Azmak Cove (Azmak Beach) sits on the southern coastal belt where the districts of Urla and Seferihisar meet (Kuşçular side). It keeps a quiet, natural character and takes its name from a small stream (azmak) beside the cove. The sea is turquoise, clear, and often cool; after a short pebbly stretch at the water’s edge the bottom can turn sandier. Visitors seek it as a low-key day escape away from busier town beaches — calm swimming in clean water.
A private car is the most practical way: from Urla center head toward Kuşçular / Seferihisar and follow signs for Azmak Plajı. From Kuća Urla it is about 25–30 minutes by car depending on traffic and road conditions. There may be no bus that stops at the beach itself; public transport can leave you with a walk or require a private transfer.
The cove is largely natural rather than a fully serviced municipal beach. Bring your own umbrella, towel, and water. Small grocery or eatery stops can appear along the upper road; limited simple beach/café operations may open seasonally. Showers and toilets depend on those businesses if present.
Quiet swimming, sunbathing, nature photos, and unhurried time by the sea. Water shoes help on the pebbly entrance. Weekdays are usually calmer; summer weekends can draw more visitors.
Balıklıova Cove is a calm, peaceful stretch of coast on the way toward the Karaburun Peninsula, still retaining its natural character. About 30 kilometers from Urla center, this former fishing village is a favorite escape from city crowds.
From Urla center use ESHOT line 761 (Urla – Karaburun) or 978 (Urla – Balıklıova); the bus ride takes about 40–45 minutes. Karaburun or Mordoğan dolmuşes from Urla bus terminal also pass through Balıklıova — simply tell the driver you are going to the cove.
There is a free public beach in Balıklıova center with changing cabins, showers, and toilets run by the municipality or local businesses. Some cafés and restaurants along the shore rent sunbeds and umbrellas in front of their venues. The waterfront is lined with casual fish restaurants, pide shops, gözleme places, and tea gardens.
Restaurants serving fresh fish and Aegean herbs are especially popular for dinner. Fishing remains a strong local tradition, and seafood and meze spots line the shore. Don’t miss Balıklıova’s famous stone-oven un kurabiyesi, local armola cheese, and karakılçık heritage bread. Historic village ruins with old abandoned stone houses on the upper parts of the cove are a popular nature walk.
Gülbahçe Shore lies between Urla center and Balıklıova and is one of Turkey’s most important spots for kitesurfing. Its wide, windy coastline and proximity to İzmir Institute of Technology (İYTE) give it a young, dynamic atmosphere.
Easily reached from Urla center by ESHOT bus 735 (Urla – İYTE) or 761 (Urla – Karaburun), and by Gülbahçe/İYTE dolmuşes.
On the public beach you can sit free with your own umbrella. Nearby cafés or surf schools cover toilets, changing rooms, and food and drink. The shore is lined with local cafés, breakfast spots, kokoreç and mussel stands, and tea gardens — popular places for sunset in the late afternoon.
Kitesurf hub: steady, well-oriented winds make it a world-known kiteboarding center. Professional schools on the beach offer training and equipment rental.
